What Do You Recommend at Bo's Ice Cream?
Tell us your favorite sweet treat at Bo's Ice Cream.
"What Do You Recommend?" is an occasional feature that asks Patch readers to weigh in on their favorite menu items at local restaurants and bars.
Bo's Ice Cream has been a landmark institution for the Seminole Heights area, dishing out frozen treats since 1954.
Owner Kenny Bosanko inherited the business from his father and has stuck to the traditions that his family established when they moved from Ohio. The business has been up for sale at different times, but Bosanko hasn't received a suitable offer just yet.
Whether it's Bo's biggest hit, the banana split, just a plain old vanilla soft serve cone or their homemade hot fudge brownie Sunday, it's pretty easy to see why Bo's has kept their doors open for nearly 60 years and why Patch readers voted it a 2012 Reader's Choice.
So we want to know: What do you recommend at Bo's? If someone's visiting for the first time, what do they HAVE to try? Post your menu picks in the comment section below.

Chocolate cone dipped in chocolate or a Brownie thick and chunky with chocolate ice cream. I do agree, their prices aren't the best. =/

Milk shake (any kind), strawberry sundae and of course my dog loves their "doggie sundae"! Prices are good - well in line with their quality of ice cream. Locally owned - We need to support our local businesses!

Upside down banana split, peanut butter milk shakes and the good old standard vanilla soft serve cones. This is from a native Tampa girl who been enjoying this place since I was born. Our parents would drive all the way down from NW Tampa area on Sundays nights, go by after church, and later it was THE date night dessert of choice. Now married for ages we still go there. Grew the kid up eating this stuff too. If you're looking for something cheap just go to DQ. It's corporate ice cream that is the same same same same tasting blah junk from city to city. But Bo's is one of a kind. Where else can you go on a "freezing" cold night like the ones we had in January and see a line of people standing at the outdoor walk-up window. That's because it's really good ice cream. Drive by on warm night like we had during the RNC and there's eight to 10 people in line. That's loyalty. Thanks Bo's for not selling out. I think if you do someone will come in and change it and it'll be ruined. Just like NIcola's donuts on Busch Blvd by Chamberlain HS. The original owner had THE best handp-made cinnamon buns and chocolate chocolate cake donuts EVER. He sold out and now the new owners changed the recipe, added locations, vans and they are just yucky now. Say what they want....the new owners say nothings changed but the taste is NOT the same. You couldn't pay me to eat one now.

Upside down Banana splits are my fav, but my daughter prefers the soft serve...This has been one of my families favorites since long before I was even thought of. My mom and her friends used to hang out when they were high school....LONG AGO!
