Watch the Shuttle Launch in Central Tampa
Are you going to watch the space shuttle launch this afternoon?
Friday's launch of the space shuttle Endeavor is set for 8:56 a.m.
Most of the country is looking for the best TV channel to watch the space shuttle's launch. But here in Florida, we need only look into the eastern sky to get a great view.
In Central Tampa, plan on picking a spot that offers an unobstructed view of the east — clear of tall trees and buildings. Wide open spaces in the soccer fields of our local parks and upper floor balconies facing east are your best bet.
If you have local suggestions, list them in the comments below.
And, if you are handy with a camera, send us your snapshots to mike.wells@patch.com and we'll post them in a photo gallery. Just give us a rough location in town where you were when you took the photo.

I love a good shuttle launch, and this is the second to last one! My house is surrounded by trees, but I find that if I walk to the corner where the intersection provides some extra space, I can see it in the east no problem.

The love bugs even get in the way of the shuttle. During one EVA the nose cone will be checked for bugs from launch
