Tampa Catholic Names Mike Gregory New Head Football Coach
Bob Henriquez resigned last week.
This just in from Barton Cobb, director of advancement at Tampa Catholic:
Tampa Catholic High School Principal Thomas J. Reidy has announced the hiring of TC’s current offensive coordinator Mike Gregory as the school’s new head football coach.
In announcing the new hire, Reidy “knew that after interviewing Mike (Gregory) it was obvious that he has the experience as a player and the background in coaching that will best lead our athletes into this new era of Crusader football.”
Gregory said he is excited to be the Head Football Coach at Tampa Catholic and grateful to Mr. Reidy for the opportunity.
"Tampa Catholic has a reputation for winning and sportsmanship, and I look forward to working with our student athletes to add to the Crusader legacy of winning," he said. "My staff and I will hit the ground running in the offseason and with the great group of young men returning, look forward to next season.”
Gregory will also continue his duties as a full-time faculty member at the 680 student co-educational Catholic school.
Mike Gregory becomes the fifteenth football coach in the history of the school, and has served as the Crusaders Offensive Coordinator since 2009. Tampa Catholic has won ten district championships and made two appearances in the state championship game since fielding its first team in 1964.
