Shooting Victim Causes Intersection Shutdown

Police shut down the intersection of North Florida Avenue and East Hillsborough Avenue early Saturday morning after a man was found shot and sitting in a car.

A shooting victim was found sitting in a car in the middle of the intersection of North Florida Avenue and East Hillsborough Avenue early Saturday morning, causing the intersection to be shut down for several hours, police said.

The man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, and his injury is non-life threatening, according to the Tampa Police Department. Officers said after taking various statements from the man that they do not believe he was shot at the intersection.

Tampa Police said in a 3:30 a.m. media release the intersection would be closed for about three hours as officers attempted to reconstruct the events of the incident.
