OSHNA Welcomes Public For Holiday Party
The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association will host its annual Holiday Dinner and Concert on Dec. 9.
Seminole Heights residents will be treated a two-decade old tradition on Dec. 9 when the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association hosts its annual Holiday Dinner and Concert.
What began as a few members of the community gathering to hear a group of residents who called themselves the Clifton Street Singers over a cup of hot cocoa has morphed into an all out holiday-themed bash complete with singers, entrees, side dishes prepared by members, drinks and a visit from Santa Clause for the kids.
"It's grown quite a bit from the early days," said OSHNA President Evan St. Ives. "We have a good choir concert every year, and this year, it will be the Gulf Coast Girls Choir that will be performing. We'll have options for people to eat whether people like ham and turkey or if they're vegetarians."

St. Ives expects the usual crowd of around of 50-75 people at the event. He added that the Seminole Heights Garden Center should provide an ideal atmosphere.
"The garden setting is beautiful," St. Ives said. "It allows to have people inside as well as outside, and we open all the windows and have speakers outside so that no matter where you are, you can hear the concert. It's really a nice, relaxing environment."
The event isn't designed to promote a cause or to educate people about OSHNA, but to give something back to the community for their support, officials say. It's something St. Ives relishes as it is unlike an ordinary meeting where the obligation to handle OSHNA's business is the primary objective.
"The people that come just have fun and socialize, and for me as president, it's nice just to get to socialize and have fun and not worry about anything else," St. Ives said. "I joined the association in 1988, and it's been great to see how this event has grown and every year you see people you haven't seen in years."
The Holiday Party will take place on Sunday Dec. 9 from 6:30-9 p.m. For more information, call St. Ives at (813) 240-9639 or e-mail email@example.com.
