OMG PD: Kittens in Freezer, Pot in Underwear
We compile the odd, unusual and ‘oh my gosh’ police items from throughout the Tampa Bay region.
Kittens Found in Freezer
Instead of the beer she was looking for, a woman visiting a St. Petersburg man this week found four kittens wrapped up in sandwich bags in his freezer, St. Pete Patch reports.
One of the kittens didn't make it, but the three others are doing fine and recovering at the SPCA Tampa Bay, Largo Patch reports. As for the man, 49-year-old Rodney J. Blanchard, he was arrested and charged with four counts of animal cruelty, plus one count of battery for pushing the woman. And to top it off, Blanchard's son was charged with attempted murder this week.
1 Thief, 3 Video Game Thefts at Same Kmart
Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say the same thief struck a Kmart in Brandon three times on three separate days in November, Brandon Patch reports.
The alleged thief used the same trick to distract clerks and make off with a trio of video game systems: An Xbox 360, a Nintendo Wii and a PlayStation 3. The suspect is still at large.
Shoplifters Heist $3,000 Worth of Perfume
Two women could be smelling lovely for a long time after they made off with $3,000 worth of perfume on Black Friday, Bloomingdale-Riverview Patch reports.
The shoplifters worked together to slip the perfume into their bags at the Sephora store at Westfield Brandon mall. A reward has been offered in the case.

Deputies: Sub Shop Rager Had Pot in Underwear
A man who went on a rampage at a Holiday sub shop was later found to be hiding marijuana in his underwear, New Port Richey Patch reports.
After Robert William Schulz, 52, was asked to leave the Great Subs restaurant on U.S. 19, Pasco County authorities say he began throwing items around the establishment and punching the soda fountain. He also grabbed a table and pulled up on it, causing it to “break free” from the floor and wreaking $250 worth of damage, according to the arrest report.
After he was booked into the Land O' Lakes jail, Schulz reportedly took a bag of pot out of his underwear and handed it to a deputy, telling him that he "forgot" to report it as contraband.
Schulz is charged with possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband and criminal mischief.

How many times do I need to read about kittens in the freezer and maimed dogs? It's too sickening and heart-breaking. I think this is enough, already. If this is what I have to look forward to daily, I will ask that you delete me from your email list.

Thanks for commenting, Doris. Of course, Patch has far more to offer than just stories about these crazy incidents. As I hope you notice, most of our coverage is about local businesses, events and the things you need to know in Seminole Heights to make like easier for you, every day. If there is a topic or subject you think I should cover, please let me know. Or, if you would like to post about something yourself, I invite you to start a blog. Let me know if I can help in any way.
