Man Dies After Being Hit by Train

Tampa Police have identified a man who was struck by a train at North Florida Avenue and East Busch Boulevard on Tuesday morning and later died from his injuries.
Luis Alberto Romo, 71, was walking southbound on Florida Avenue when he was struck by a CSX train shortly before 10 a.m., according to a Tampa Police media release.
Romo was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and later died, officials said.
Romo appeared to have dropped something on the tracks and was attempting to pick it up when he was struck, according to Tampa Police Lieutenant Ron McMullen. The train conductor saw Romo and gave him several warnings, McMullen said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Traffic was shut down for several hours on Florida Avenue between Busch Boulevard and Yukon Street following the incident.
