Hazardous Weather Forecasted Today

High winds and dry weather are behind a cold front sweeping the Tampa Bay region today.

Grab a coat and gloves. It's defintiely not shorts and flip-flop weather today in the Sunshine State.

Strong and gusting northwest winds are blowing palm trees and creating choppy seas. A lake wind advisory also is in effect.

Boaters are warned about rough conditions along the coast. There's a moderate risk of rip currents, according to the National Weather Service.

The high winds are blowing behind a cold front that is sweeping across the Tampa Bay region today, from Sarasota to South Tampa to Tarpon Springs.

The temperatures will be in the low 60s today in Seminole Heights, with winds as strong as 28 mph.

Along the beaches, the wind gusts are creating rough seas. The winds will not decrease until tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
