Free Classes, Programs at Seminole Heights Branch Library in October

From book discussions to monster parades, find out what free programs are available at your public library.

 

The Seminole Heights Branch Library will begin the process of gutting its current location and building a new at the end of this month. Check out these events at the Seminole Heights Branch Library for the month of October.

  • Youth Computer Lab today from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Brush up those computer skills, and have fun reconnecting with your friends after school. Computer tutoring on microsoft software, Internet, games, and more.

  • Dream Journals on Thursday Oct. 11 from 4-5 p.m.

Learn about bookbinding and journal making, then capture memorable dreams with a personally-designed dream journal.

  • Book Discussion: Heaven Is For Real By Todd Burto With Lynn Vincent on Saturday Oct. 13 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

This is the story of Colton Burpo, four-year-old son of a Nebraska pastor, who, after surviving emergency surgery, described being in heaven, seeing God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and meeting long-dead family members.

  • Teen Advisory Board Game Zone & Sign-up on Tuesday Oct. 16 from 4-5 p.m.

Get in the zone and join your friends for some gaming with Dance, Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Rock Band and more. Sign-up for Teen Advisory Board and get involved at your library.

  • Master Gardener: Fun with Orchids on Monday Oct. 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

"Fun with Orchids" is a non-technical talk about the orchid family for orchid growers with a few plants or those who are considering purchasing their first orchid. A power point presentation and live plants include examples of the more common types suitable for beginners, how to care for orchids, and the A,B,C's of repotting and dividing orchids. These delicate plants are much harder than you might think.

  • Teen Crafts: Feltie Zombies on Thursday Oct. 25 from 4-5 p.m.

Craft a zombie out of scrap materials and attach to a key chain or pencil for a frightfully good time.

  • Scary Movie Night on Tuesday Oct. 30 from 4:15-6:45 p.m.

Join your friends at the library for a frightfully good time. Refreshments, craft activities and a book swap will complete the event.

  • Monsters on Parade on Wednesday Oct. 31 from 11-11:30 a.m.

A special story time featuring monster stories, finger plays, and songs. Come in costume if you dare. A drawing will be held for Hotel Transylvania animated movie prizes.
