Former Chamberlain High Football Star Aycock Arrested
Dontae Aycock, who went on to suit up for Auburn and USF but never played, was charged with domestic battery and criminal mischief totaling less than $200 last week in Tampa.
A former Chamberlain High football standout was arrested last week on charges of domestic battery and criminal mischief totaling less than $200, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.
Dontae Aycock, who won the 2008 Guy Top Award as Hillsborough's top prep player, was released on his own recognizance after he was arrested Friday by Tampa Police, according to sheriff's office records.
The 20-year-old Aycock racked up nearly 3,000 yards of total offense and scored 45 touchdowns his senior season at Chamberlain, TBO.com reports. Aycock then signed with Auburn and spent a redshirt season there before being dismissed from the program for an unspecified violation of team rules, according to al.com.
Aycock transferred to the University of South Florida in 2010, sat out a season because of transfer rules and then left the team before the start of the 2011 season. USF coach Skip Holtz told the Tampa Bay Times in August that Aycock was "struggling with his weight a little bit this summer" and "he wants to focus on getting his degree, but doesn't feel like football's in his heart so he's not going to play anymore."
